- BEDROCK'S MODEL WEEK. Claude Opus 5.5 ships September 22 with Fable 5.1-level quality at 40% less than Opus 5, 30% faster output, and cache-read pricing is down 60%. GPT-6 Sol and Luna also landed on Bedrock the same week.
- WATERMARKS: EU AI ACT TRANSPARENCY REQUIREMENTS. Anthropic announced Claude text watermarking on August 14 in response to the EU AI Act’s transparency requirements. An open-source watermark-removal project appeared days later, now at 23.1K stars.
- Tool of the Week: Amazon CloudWatch Omni. Free IDE extension for VS Code, Cursor, and Kiro; local development requires no AWS account. Eval-driven observability for agents, GA September 22.

Bedrock's Model Week: Opus 5.5, GPT-6, and the Price of Context
Bedrock added Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Sol/Luna on September 22, followed by Sonnet 5.5 on September 28.
Opus 5.5 leads the week. Anthropic says Opus 5.5 costs 40% less than Opus 5 on typical workloads, while input/output token prices fall 20% and cache-read pricing falls 60%. External evaluators including METR and Frontier Design tested it before release. It is also the first Anthropic model released after Dario Amodei’s pacing essay on September 12.
